Lithuania to mark the centennial of the independence of Finland, Estonia, Poland and Latvia

At the initiative of Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis,the Government has decided to mark the centennial anniversaries and to raise the flag of the Republic of Lithuania on the occasion of the centennial of the independence of Estonia, Latvia, Poland and Finland.  It is also recommended that, along with the Lithuanian flag, the flag of the nation celebrating the centennial of its independence be raised along with the main public institutions: the President’s Office, the Seimas and the Government.

The Republic of Finland will celebrate the occasion on December 6 this year.  It will be followed by Estonia on 24th of February 2018. Poland will be marking its centennial on 11th of November. Latvia will celebrate it on the 18th of November.   

On the above-mentioned days, Lithuanian state flags will fly on the buildings of the state and municipal institutions and establishments. Other natural and legal persons are also invited to join this initiative by raising the flag of the Republic of Lithuania on their buildings. 

The centennial celebrations in 2018 will feature a number of events across the capitals of the above-mentioned states, thus highlighting the Lithuanian culture.
