Prime Minister extends greetings to Germany celebrating its Unity Day

Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has extended greetings, on behalf of the Government and the people of Lithuania, to Germany on the occasion of the national holiday of Germany - the German Unity Day. The Prime Minister expressed his wishes to the Chancellor Merkel-led Government and all the German people for prosperity, concord and unity.

“I welcome our close political, economic and cultural ties, which rely on solid principles of partnership. Germany is the main trading partner of Lithuania. We are grateful to Germany for its leadership in deploying NATO’s Forward Presence Battalion in Lithuania. I firmly believe that the multifaceted experience of our successful and strong cooperation will inspire us to continue an open dialogue on all matters of concern”, reads Prime Minister’s letter.

Saulius Skvernelis has expressed confidence that the cooperation will continue to grow, and the parties will continue to work together to make the European Union sustainable, secure and competitive. The Prime Minister thanked German Chancellor Merkel for her personal contribution to maintaining European unity and strengthening the European and the transatlantic security.
