Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania has extended congratulations on behalf of the Government of Lithuania to Ursula von der Leyen on her election as new President of the European Commission, along with the wishes for every success and wisdom working for the good of all the Europeans.

The Prime Minister has pointed out that the Lithuanian Government is ready to work closely towards greater unity among the European nations and fulfilled expectations of the people for a secure and prosperous European Union.

‘Lithuania firmly supports the completion of the EU’s Single Market ant its four freedoms, which constitute the essential basis for EU’s future successes. I firmly believe that the integration of the Baltic energy and transport infrastructure with the rest of Europe will remain among the priorities of the next European Commission.

My Government is committed to work jointly in the ongoing deliberations on the Multiannual Financial Framework, Mobility Package, Migration, EU external border and EU neighbouring policy issues, which reflect the interests of all the EU Member States for the sake of a stronger and more resilient European Union’, reads Prime Minister’s letter.

The Prime Minister has noted that Ursula von der Leyen will always have Lithuania’s support as a defender of European solidarity and values both in and beyond the EU, stressing that it is only by strengthening the European project, the Member States can succeed in addressing the new challenges, such as climate change, cyber threats and disinformation.

The Prime Minister has concluded his letter expressing his firm belief that Lithuania and the European Commission will continue to work together to strengthen the close and faithful partnership.
