Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has greeted the members of the country’s ethnic communities on the occasion of the Day of Ethnic Communities.

On this special day, the Prime Minister thanks the people who are devoting their efforts and time to building a safe and prosperous Lithuania.

‘We share the same homeland, where ethnic communities play an integral part. Lithuania has always been known for its religious and national tolerance and its efforts to promote national and ethnic traditions. I am certain that by acting together, we will continue to make our country true home for all its people. Thank you all! Happy holiday’, reads Prime Minister’s letter.

The 21st of May is celebrated in Lithuania as the Day of Ethnic Communities. Its origins go back to 2001, when UNESCO adopted the Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity. A year later, the 21st of May was declared the World Day for Cultural Diversity.
