Prime Minister’s portfolio of strategic actions (projects)

On 17 March 2021, the Cabinet meeting discussed the composition of the Prime Minister’s portfolio of strategic actions (projects).

It was agreed that the Prime Minister’s portfolio of strategic projects would consist of the following strategic actions (projects) of Ministers grouped in accordance with the priorities of the Government Programme:

A public sector that meets the needs of society

  • Civil service reform (Ministry of the Interior)
  • Functions review and optimal network of institutions (public administration system) (Ministry of the Interior)
  • Public and administrative services (including regional quality assurance) (Ministry of the Interior)
  • Strategic goal-oriented general government financial planning (Ministry of Finance).

Equal starting positions for all Lithuanian people

  • A good school and modern curriculum for all: a progress programme ‘Millennium High Schools’ (Ministry of Education, Science and Sport)
  • Open data and cutting-edge technologies in education: digital education transformation EDtech (Ministry of Education, Science and Sport)
  • Sustainable synergy between culture and education (integration of culture and creativity in education) (Ministry of Culture)

High value-added economy

  • A robust innovation system (development of innovation ecosystem in science centres, establishment of an innovation agency, and development of mission-oriented science and business innovation programmes) (Ministry of the Economy and Innovation)

A long and full life for a healthy person

  • Development of a model for the provision of long-term care services (Ministry of Health)

Strategic infrastructure covering two priorities of the Government Programme: a strong and secure Lithuania and a high value-added economy

  • An effective threat resilience-building and crisis and emergency management system (Prime Minister)
  • Secure power system (synchronisation of power system with the West and blockade of the Astravets Nuclear Power Plant) (Ministry of Energy)
  • Development of strategic rail and road transport connections (Ministry of Transport and Communications)
