Lithuania takes a leading position in the European Union as regards the e-government services, claims the German TV Deutsche Welle.
“No other European country has achieved this much of progress in e-government services as Lithuania. Businesses may keep contact with the authorities on the Internet. There will hardly be anyone who would not be using electronic Parking. New-borns are also registered online”, says the German TV.
The TV footage also points out a high degree of public confidence in personal data protection measures applied by the public authorities.

It is every year that the Lithuanian authorities introduce new e-services. For instance, now the Office of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania and the Information Society Development Committee under the Ministry of Transport and Communications run a joint EU-funded project “Development of Electronic Democracy Services in the Government of the Republic of Lithuania”, which aims to increase the transparency, accountability, and quality of decision-making in public administration.
