Head of Government sends greetings to new Prime Minister of Iceland
Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas congratulated the new Prime Minister of Iceland, Kristrún Frostadóttir. Prime Minister Paluckas wished the Prime Minister Frostadóttir and her cabinet of ministers every success.
'It is with delight that I note our excellent bilateral relations, and I have no doubts that our cooperation will continue to thrive through close dialogue and mutual support in pursuing our shared goals and making common efforts for a peaceful and secure future for our nations.
Lithuania will always be grateful to Iceland for its courage not to remain comfortably silent and for announcing the recognition of an independent Lithuania. This shows once again that small countries often have big hearts, and this is what binds our nations together. As does the courage not to turn the other way in the face of Russia's war crimes in Ukraine and the Kremlin's aggression against a sovereign country', states the greeting by Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas.
'Lithuania highly values Iceland’s contribution to NATO presence in the Baltic states as especially important in enhancing the security of our region. Our unity is our greatest strength, and it will prevent tyrannical regimes from destroying a European order rooted in the rule of law and respect for human rights.
A number of Lithuanians have linked their lives and work to Iceland. Although separated by thousands of kilometres, Iceland and Lithuania are united by people who share same core values. The strong Lithuanian community in Iceland is another powerful bridge between our countries', said the Lithuanian Prime Minister.
