At the end of his visit, Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss issues of mutual interest.
‘We appreciate the friendly relations between the two countries. Lithuania is a friend and voice of Israel in both the EU and other international organisations. For many years, we have fostered our mutual understanding, as well as economic, scientific and cultural ties, and we particularly commend Israel’s efforts towards strengthening peace and security through antiterrorism measures’, said the Prime Minister.
Special attention has been paid to the development of the economic relations. The Prime Minister has noted that Lithuania stands ready to further improve the regulatory environment for the early and successful settlement of Israeli businesses, also pointing out that the interest of Israeli commercial banks in the Lithuanian banking sector would be very welcome. The interlocutors have also touched upon the closer start-ups cooperation, and Lithuania’s efforts to facilitate business doing for Israeli start-ups. High potential is seen in the development of cooperation in life sciences and lasers.
It has been agreed about launching daily direct flights, which will be oriented towards business sector. The Israeli business mission, which is due shortly in Lithuania, is expected to give a substantial boost to the economic relations.
