On 3 June, in response to Belarus’ request for international assistance, the Government adopted a resolution allocating EUR 50,000 from the State reserve to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide humanitarian assistance to Belarus in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘The decision has been made taking into account the fact that we will not be able to successfully overcome the global pandemic without helping each other, and Lithuania is particularly interested in our closest Eastern neighbour overcoming this challenge as soon as possible,’ said Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis.

According to the official data, as of 3 June, 45,116 people were infected with COVID-19 in Belarus, and 248 people died.

The allocated funds will be used to purchase personal protective equipment manufactured in Lithuania.
