In Warsaw, First Deputy Chancellor of the Government Deividas Matulionis and Head of the Office of the Prime minister of Poland Michal Dworczyk opened up an exhibition ‘Polish President Lech Kaczynski and Lithuania in the eyes of President Valdas Adamkus’.

First Deputy Chancellor of the Government Deividas Matulionis pointed out the particularly warm period in the bilateral relations during the term of the presidency of both President Kaczynski and President Adamkus. Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis gives special priority to the relations with Poland.

‘We are pleased to note the very close relations between Lithuania and Poland. Poland is our most important partner in the region. Not only have we renewed our political ties but we are also working to take them further across the spectrum of cooperation.’ said Matulionis.

The exhibition ‘Polish President Lech Kaczynski and Lithuania in the eyes of President Valdas Adamkus’ reflects this period of history through the prism of personal relations between the two presidents. The exhibition is based on photographs that capture the most important moments from the meetings between the two heads of states, with captions from President Adamkus’s diary. The Lithuanian Institute of History, Jerzy Giedroyc Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation implemented the project-exhibition in July-November last year from the Historical Memory funds of the Office of the Government.

The First Deputy Chancellor took the opportunity to visit Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Konrad Szymański to discuss issues of European relevance.
