Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has attended the ceremony of the opening of GP Transco, a company which was founded outside Lithuania and which has served as a proof to the fact that anything is possible for a vigorous, industrious and target-oriented initiative.

According to the Prime Minister, substantial efforts have been lately made towards business-friendlier environment, which, as a result, have delivered 5 thousand jobs and attracted 40 foreign direct investments.

“Though I’d rather not make comparisons, still I cannot hide how very special this particular investment is for us. Our compatriots are coming back home, and with a very successful business to that. This is an achievement for the entire Lithuania, as this is more than business. Not only are we the players in the global market but also, as it turns out, the trend-setters. The opening of the company GP Transco in our country and its development plans are the best evidence that ambitious organisations can successfully operate in Lithuania”, said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister has pointed out the importance of such examples of the Lithuanian-American economic trade cooperation in terms of strengthening the strategic partnership with the USA. Full support by the Government has been guaranteed, while expressing hope that others will soon follow suit.

Founded in 2006, GP Transco has been among the fastest growing logistics companies in the US. As a matter of fact, it has been listed among the top 250 logistics and transport companies. The GP Transco unit in Lithuania will now have over 50 employees focusing on corporate services, IT, accounting and management sections. The company has plans to expand its logistics unit and recruit more software staff.
