Prime Minister expresses condolences over the loss of former German Chancellor

On behalf of the Government and the people of Lithuania, Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius has extended condolences to the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Angela Merkel, over the loss of the former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt.

“Helmut Schmidt was a wise politician, a great diplomat, and most importantly – a longtime fighter for democracy in Europe and around the world. I hereby express my heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of Helmut Schmidt, as well as his colleagues and the entire German nation”, reads Prime Minister’s letter of condolences.
