Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis extends sincere greetings to Canada on the National Day and cordially wishes the people of Canada every success, prosperity and wellbeing.

‘I am pleased to take this opportunity to express my delight of the excellent bilateral relations between our countries as well as our cooperation in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Canada’s role in preserving trans-Atlantic unity and cohesion is of crucial importance. Your country’s substantial contribution to the security of the Baltic region, your global efforts in protecting multilateralism, human rights and media freedom are highly valued. The official visit by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette sparked the momentum fostering political, economic and cultural ties between our countries,’ reads the Prime Minister’s letter.

The Head of Government has expressed his confidence that the two countries will continue in the same spirit of fruitful cooperation. Lithuania and Canada, being likeminded on most key issues, can further join efforts on countering disinformation, supporting the international rules-based system and most importantly – reinforcing the trans-Atlantic link.
