Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has extended greetings on behalf of the Government and the people of Lithuania to Germany on the occasion of the national holiday of Germany – the German Unity Day, along with his wishes for a more secure and prosperous country.

‘30 years ago, the Baltic nations joined hands to form a live chain, and Germany saw the Berlin Wall crumble. The courage and determination of our people made it possible to build a free and integrating Europe, unthinkable without a united Germany. I am very happy that Lithuania and Germany are working together on a common future within the European Union and NATO. We greatly appreciate your decisions regarding the NATO’s Forward Presence in Lithuania. The German troops have earned great public support in our country, and the Lithuanian Government will pay special attention to strengthening this German-led initiative’, reads the letter.

According to the Prime Minister, the Government is ready to work closely together to strengthen the EU internal market and to make the EU voice heard in the world, as it builds solidarity-based cooperation between the peoples of Europe.
Saulius Skvernelis has expressed confidence that the economic cooperation with Germany will continue in the areas of trade and investment, and that people-to-people contacts and cultural exchanges will open up new opportunities for friendly relations between the two states.
