Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius has met with the outgoing French Ambassador, Maryse Eveline Berniau, and thanked her for the contribution in fostering the bilateral relations as well as for the French participation in the NATO air policing mission in the Baltic States.

“I thank you, your Excellency, for the good job you did while in Lithuania, as well as for your efforts that have contributed to the promotion of our bilateral relations”, said the Prime Minister. “May I take this opportunity to express my deepest sympathy over the helicopter crash in Argentina having taken the lives of the French athletes”, added the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister has also noted that the French support to Lithuania towards its membership of the OECD is very important. As a matter of fact, this membership is among Lithuania’s strategic goals.

The Prime Minister has expressed gratitude for France’s close involvement in the NATO air policing mission in the Baltic States, adding that the French forces always find a common language with our military. “You are always welcome in all military exercises taking place both in Lithuania and other Baltic countries,” said the Head of Government.
