2011 10 05

Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius has met with outgoing Ambassador of France François Laumonier. The Prime Minister has thanked the Ambassador for his substantial contribution into the development of relations between Lithuania and France.

Over the recent three years France has gained its position among the top ten largest trade partners of Lithuania, while French investments into Lithuania’s economy have amounted to almost 900 million Litas. High-level visits have been organised; among them – last week’s visit to Lithuania by Prime Minister of France François Fillon.

Ambassador Laumonier has especially contributed to promoting interest among the Lithuanian public in the French language and culture.

In 2009 a political declaration on strategic partnership between Lithuania and France was signed.

A new French Ambassador is to arrive in Lithuania at the end of October.
