Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has offered his congratulations to UK’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson on his victory in the parliamentary elections, along with the wishes for vigour and strength as well as the support of the people of the United Kingdom, as the United Kingdom turns over a new leaf in UK-EU relationship.

‘We are like-minded on the importance of the transatlantic link for the security of Europe and the region. Lithuania is for a particularly close UK-EU relationship in the future. I have no doubts that the Governments of Lithuania and the United Kingdom will do their best in the context of BREXIT to ensure the most favourable residence conditions for the citizens of both countries’, reads Prime Minister’s letter.

The Prime Minister has underlined that the Government of the Republic of Lithuania will continue to pay special attention to the strengthening of bilateral relations with the United Kingdom, while particularly noting the close cooperation between Lithuania and the United Kingdom in the areas of trade and innovation, culture and education, cybersecurity and financial technologies.

The Head of Government has reiterated the importance of the Nordic-Baltic and the UK dialogue, while suggesting that the meetings of the Northern Future Forum be resumed.
