Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has extended greetings to Italy’s newly appointed Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte wishing him every success, wisdom and resolve working for the good of the country and of all Europe.

‘My Government is committed to work jointly with you in strengthening close and faithful partnership between our countries. The growing economic cooperation, people-to-people contacts and vivid cultural exchanges open new possibilities for the bilateral relations.’ reads Prime Minister’s letter.

Lithuania highly values Italy’s contribution to the security of the eastern part of the NATO Alliance and particularly to the NATO’s air policing mission in the Baltic States. Lithuania welcomes Italy’s recent decision to join the EU PESCO project on cyber security led by Lithuania. Saulius Skvernelis has expressed confidence that the evolving bilateral relations will continue to build on European solidarity and values both in and beyond the EU.

The Head of Government has invited Giuseppe Conte to visit Lithuania the following year when Lithuania celebrates the 30th anniversary of the restoration of independence in 1990.
