The Sweden-Lithuania Cooperation Fund was established on the occasion of Lithuania’s centennial celebration. It was contributed with one million euros by the Swedish Government. Another 200 000 euros reached the fund last week through a decision of the Government of Lithuania.

The fund aims to encourage the people of Sweden and Lithuania to better know each other and to promote an ever closer cooperation between the two countries, particularly as regards youth contacts and joint projects in social matters, economy, innovation and business. One of the tasks of the fund is the promotion of the Lithuanian language and culture in Sweden and vice versa.

The capital of the fund will be invested and the return on investment will finance projects and programmes. The fund will be managed by a board consisting of eight individuals, four from Sweden and four from Lithuania.

The website, www.swelitfund.org, was launched in late 2019 to provide information on application requirements.
