Given the deteriorating epidemiological situation in the country, the Government has taken a decision in its Wednesday sitting to impose restrictions on events and gatherings organised in public places from 30 October to 13 November 2020.

‘Considering the deteriorating epidemiological situation and greater risk of the coronavirus spreading at events, special regulations have been introduced in respect of events for the duration of two weeks’, says Minister for the Interior Rita Tamašunienė.

Exceptions will apply in the case of indoor high-performance sporting events and cultural events with maximum 300 spectators provided the following conditions are met: spectators watch the event only from their seats, at a 2 m distance from each other except for family members (spouses or persons, with whom a registered partnership agreement has been concluded, children (adopted children), including minor children,  of persons, of their spouses or of persons, with whom a registered partnership agreement has been concluded, parents (adoptive parents) and guardians).

Spectators will be required to wear protective equipment covering nose and mouth (face masks, respirators or other equipment). In this case, the requirement to wear protective equipment covering nose and mouth (face masks, respirators or other equipment) will not be applicable to persons with disability who cannot wear a mask due to their health condition or where wearing it may adversely affect their health condition. The latter are recommended to wear a face shield. Such events will also require electronic distribution of tickets and/or registration of spectators and / or participants, as well as control of the access of spectators and/or participants to the venue.

The exception will also apply in the case of outdoor sporting and cultural events with maximum 400 spectators provided the above conditions are met. Nor will the restrictions apply in the case of funerals.

The Government has also decided that 10 sq. m. market space per visitor must be provided in shops, supermarkets, marketplaces, other public points of sale where activities are carried out indoors, and in other points of sale and services.

All changes will take effect as of 30 October 2020, Friday.
