On 4-5 October Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius and his delegation are taking part in the 8th Asia-Europe Summit of Heads of State and Government (ASEM) in Brussels. The major topics of this global summit address the global crisis, means to fight it and the outcomes thereof, global economy management, sustainable development, climate change, combating maritime piracy, and terrorism. Before the ASEM session, the forum participants, heads of state and government, were met by King Albert II of Belgium, Prime Minister of Belgium Yves Leterme, President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, and President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso.
On the visit to Denmark, Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius, Minister of Economy Dainius Kreivys and other members of the Lithuanian government delegation, participated in a round-table discussion with representatives of the Confederation of Danish Industries. The meeting was attended by business leaders investing in Lithuania (Carlsberg, Danfoss, Nordisk Wavin, Royal Unibrew and others). The meeting went well in a cordial and warm atmosphere, and the President of the Confederation of Danish Industries, Hans Skov Christensen, recalled a long-term and meaningful cooperation with the Confederation of Lithuanian Industrialists, and the professional guidance and support provided to them.
Lithuania’s exclusive feature is its dynamism, - said Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius to Copenhagen Business School leaders and students. During his working visit to the Kingdom of Denmark, the Lithuanian Prime Minister delivered a lecture at the prestigious Copenhagen Business School. Andrius Kubilius presented Lithuania as a country that has lived through many turbulent transformations retaining its dynamism, openness to changes and worldwide competitiveness.
The Government in today’s sitting have given its seal of approval to the establishment of a research centre that will coordinate the joint research of Lithuanian scientists and IBM. The Lithuanian Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Education and Science have been authorised to finalise the signing of the agreement on the establishment of the research centre and other accompanying documents.
The delegation led by Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius has begun its working visit to Denmark. Today the Lithuanian leader has been welcomed by Lars Loekke Rasmussen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark Prime Minister Kubilius has pointed out that the purpose of the visit in Denmark is not only an overview of the current developments in the bilateral cooperation, but also sending a message to the political and business community in Denmark about the priorities and opportunities of the investment policies undertaken by the Lithuanian Government.
The delegation led by Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius is going on a working visit to the Kingdom of Denmark on 28-30 September. "We continue investment hunting which has lately proved efficient in terms of tangible outcomes. This time, in addition to discussions on policy and bilateral relations, we are going to present Lithuania and its investment climate in Denmark. This country is very important for the whole Nordic-Baltic region, whose high-tech service hub Lithuania aspires to become one day”, - said the Prime Minister on the eve of the visit.
The Government approved the proposals of the Working Group set up by the Prime Minister to prepare for the centennial anniversary of the death of the famous Lithuanian composer, artist and cultural activist M. K. Čiurlionis to be marked in 2011, and mandated the Minister of Culture to finalize and approve an anniversary programme, which should include publications, concerts, exhibitions, conferences, competitions, different other events in Lithuania and abroad.
