Lithuanian and Polish Leaders Discuss Joint Efforts to Strengthen Regional Security
Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius, who is visiting Warsaw on a working visit, met with Polish President Karol Nawrocki.
“The security situation, with Russia continuing its war against Ukraine and carrying out increasingly aggressive hybrid attacks across Europe, makes strengthening our strategic partnership imperative. Working together, rather than acting alone, is the most effective way to ensure our region’s security. Our shared history offers many reminders that we are stronger together,” Prime Minister M. Sinkevičius said.
The Prime Minister thanked Poland for its significant contribution to strengthening regional security, from joint military exercises to participation in air policing missions.
The discussion also covered support for Ukraine, which is becoming increasingly important ahead of the coming winter, and the need to increase pressure on Russia as the aggressor.
The Lithuanian Prime Minister and the Polish President agreed on the need to prioritise the security of NATO’s eastern flank and ensure appropriate EU funding to strengthen it.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of transatlantic ties and unity, as well as the need for a stronger NATO alliance supported by a Europe that assumes greater responsibility for its own security.
