Prime Minister Congratulates Hungary on the 70th Anniversary of the Revolution
Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, extended his sincere congratulations to Hungary on the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Revolution.
“This historic anniversary commemorates the courage, dignity and determination of the Hungarian people in their resistance and pursuit of freedom, national sovereignty and self-determination. The events of 1956 remain an enduring testament to the strength of the human spirit, inspired hope for freedom across Central and Eastern Europe, and the universal aspiration of nations to live in freedom and peace.
On this solemn occasion, we honour the legacy of those who stood up for liberty and reaffirm the enduring importance of democracy, respect for national independence and the fundamental right of peoples to determine their own future.
Lithuania values its partnership with Hungary, founded on longstanding historical ties and our shared commitment to cooperation within the European Union and NATO. We look forward to further developing our bilateral relations, strengthening European unity and security, supporting Ukraine, and enhancing the resilience of our region,” the Prime Minister said in his congratulatory message.
