Prime Minister sends greetings to Montenegro on Statehood Day
On the Statehood Day of Montenegro, Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas has sent a message of greetings to the Prime Minister of Montenegro Milojko Spajić. The head of the Lithuanian Government wished the people of Montenegro prosperity and well-being.
‘Lithuania greatly values the close ties and fruitful cooperation with Montenegro. I am confident that our partnership will continue to deepen, contributing to the well-being of our nations and to a stronger, more secure Europe as we work together towards a peaceful future for our continent.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on reaching the final stage of the EU accession negotiations. Montenegro now stands as a true member-in-waiting of the European Union. Lithuania strongly supports the merit-based enlargement policy and remains committed to seeing our democratic, like-minded partners from the Western Balkans join the EU family. Your progress is a testament to your perseverance and alignment with European values.
In the face of Russia’s war against Ukraine, our united support for Ukraine, reinforced sanctions against Russia and Belarus, and our shared commitment to a strong, resilient Europe remain crucial. I appreciate Montenegro’s consistent alignment with the EU’s foreign and security policy and your support for Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic path,’ reads Prime Minister’s message of greetings.
