Acting Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė sends greetings to Latvia on Independence Day
On behalf of the people and the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, Acting Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė has sent warm greetings to Latvia on the occasion of the Independence Day, along with best wishes for unity and prosperity.
‘The road that Latvia has travelled during the years of independence is a source of pride and inspiration for many nations. Our shared history has repeatedly shown that the well-being of our nations is interrelated, that we are only strong when we are united, and that we understand that freedom cannot be taken for granted and we have to continue to defend it together, as we did so many times in the past.
The principles of freedom and democracy that unite our nations are our common strength, which is critical in this difficult period for Europe and the entire democratic world, especially in supporting Ukraine and its people, whatever victory takes. I believe that the strategic partnership between our countries will continue to grow stronger and stronger every day, and that we will not tire working together to achieve a just and sustainable peace and a secure world for future generations. Dievs, svētī Latviju!’ - reads Prime Minister’s message of greetings.
