Chancellor: this Government has a strategic goal to strengthen cooperation with countries from Indo-Pacific region
Chancellor of the Government Giedrė Balčytytė has met with Ambassador of Korea Mira Sun, who is ending her term in Lithuania.
Giedrė Balčytytė has thanked the Ambassador for the work done noting Lithuania’s plans to take further ties with countries that uphold the same values, particularly in the face of global security challenges.
‘Our countries enjoy excellent relations that are based on respect for the same values and democratic principles,’ said the Chancellor.
‘This Government has a strategic goal of strengthening relations with like-minded countries in Indo-Pacific region, including South Korea, Australia, Japan, Singapore, also strengthening economic and cultural ties with Taiwan,’ said the Chancellor, noting the interest to increase the export of high value-added Lithuanian goods and services to South Korea and to promote South Korea’s investments in Lithuania.
Giedrė Balčytytė has welcomed the bilateral cooperation in the field of life sciences, and prospects for its further development.
Lithuania is ready to take further culture and education ties, promote academic and student exchanges, and inbound tourism after the pandemic. Giedrė Balčytytė has also emphasised that the agreement on co-operation in the fields of culture, education, and science, signed between the parties in June, should serve as a good foundation for strengthening the relations between the states.
