Christmas greeting from Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė

Dear people of Lithuania,

Christmas is a time to remember that what truly matters in life is often simple: family, loved ones, friends, sincerity, compassion, caring for others, and the courage to ask for help.

For most of the year, we happen to live at a fast pace—working, making decisions, debating, and planning for what comes next. Yet Christmas reminds us that all of this has value only when our efforts serve people—when communities grow stronger, mutual trust deepens, and we learn to take joy not only in our personal achievements but also in those we share together.

Even when our opinions, beliefs, or views differ, we can listen to one another with respect and respond thoughtfully. Freedom of speech becomes real only when no one is mocked or humiliated, even when mistakes are made. After all, truth is born from many voices.

Our country is beautiful. Our people are hardworking, creative, and unafraid of challenges. Each of us contributes to Lithuania’s well-being through our daily efforts, care, attention, and support for those around us.

May Christmas inspire us to care more deeply for one another. It is a time to embrace those close to us and to remember those who are far away. A time to feel gratitude not only for moments that were special but also for those we may have taken for granted, yet which filled our hearts with the joy of life. It is also a time to notice those who may have been overlooked in the rush of everyday life, and to those who are alone. And it is a time to reach out and offer a helping hand to those who are struggling or in need.

The Christmas miracle is often very simple—it happens when we choose kindness.

May this festive season be filled with peace. May the coming year bring more faith, more courage, and greater unity. For only together can we build a strong, just, and compassionate Lithuania.

Warmest holiday wishes.
