COVID-19 containment challenges in Lithuania and Estonia
On 9 July, Chancellor of the Government Giedrė Balčytytė has met with Estonian Ambassador to Lithuania Kai Kaarelson to discuss challenges posed by COVID-19, best international practices to control the pandemic, the security situation in the region, and the illegal migration weaponised by the Belarussian regime. The parties have also talked about data-driven decision-making in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccination, benefits of holding a National Certificate and the EU COVID Certificate, also possibilities of closer bilateral cooperation in the face of emergencies.
The Chancellor of the Government Giedrė Balčytytė has thanked Ambassador Kaarelson for Estonia’s immediate reaction in helping to resolve the migration issues which, as a matter of fact, are important not only to this region but to the whole of the EU.
