In a Meeting with the Israeli Ambassador, the Prime Minister expressed Lithuania's solidarity with Israel
On Thursday, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Lithuania, Hadas Wittenberg Silverstein. At the meeting, the Head of Government reiterated her condemnation of Hamas attacks and acts of terror against Israel and its people, stressing that Lithuania stands in solidarity with Israel and supports the country's right to defend itself in accordance with the principles of international humanitarian law.
"Hamas brutal attacks on Israel, its shocking terror against civilians must be condemned by the whole world. Hamas acts of terror are a threat to security and stability throughout the region. We are friends of Israel and extend our sincere condolences to the families of the victims and our wishes for strength to all those who are experiencing loss or uncertainty about the missing people," said the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister noted Lithuania's position that all Israeli citizens taken hostage - both civilians and soldiers - must be released as soon as possible.
In her meeting with the Israeli Ambassador, the Prime Minister also discussed the latest security situation in Israel and the region.
