Mindaugas Sinkevičius underlines Lithuania’s support for Moldova’s European integration
Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius spoke by phone on Monday with his Moldovan counterpart, Prime Minister Vasile Tofan.
The conversation focused primarily on bilateral relations and security issues amid Russia’s continued military aggression against Ukraine, also on Moldova’s European integration ambitions.
“Moldova and Ukraine joining the European Union as full members is a shared strategic goal. You can count on Lithuania’s continued comprehensive support on this path, including expert and institutional assistance with implementing reforms and strengthening resilience, so that this day may come as soon as possible,” said Prime Minister Sinkevičius.
The two sides noted that Russia remains the biggest threat to Europe and the international order, with its hybrid attacks – ranging from airspace violations to disinformation and other hostile activities – creating growing security risks.
Moldova’s and Ukraine’s EU membership by 2030 is one of the priorities of Lithuania’s upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union, said the Prime Minister.
It was also noted that achieving this goal requires not only the swift and smooth implementation of reforms but also ensuring their long-term sustainability.
