Prime Minister and German Ambassador discuss fight against the pandemic

In a remote meeting with Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Lithuania Matthias Sonn, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė has discussed measures to combat the pandemic, topical matters of bilateral cooperation, the European Union agenda, and the situation in Belarus.
‘We attach special importance to cooperation with Germany and Germany’s leadership in dealing with matters relevant to the entire European Union. At the moment, one of the key priorities is the accreditation and distribution of new vaccines to all members of the community as soon as possible,’ said the Prime Minister.
During the conversation, the Head of Government has discussed Lithuania’s lockdown measures and has emphasised that the situation had been stabilised. Vaccination remains the central task.
The conversation recalled Germany’s successful Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and has stressed the need to strengthen support for the aspirations of the Belarusian people to build a democratic Belarus.
