Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė had a telephone conversation with Estonia’s Prime Minister Jüri Ratas to discuss the current pandemic situation, defence issues, and further cooperation between the Baltic States.

Prime Minister of Estonia Jüri Ratas expressed his greetings to Ingrida Šimonytė on assuming the office and wished her every success in tackling today’s difficult challenges and in taking further the prosperity of the Lithuanian people.

The Prime Ministers discussed the ways to contain Covid-19 and agreed to continue sharing experience and addressing the pandemic-related issues together with the Baltic States. The vaccine looks very promising, and it is necessary not only to ensure efficient logistics but also to promote public confidence in its regard.

Ingrida Šimonytė confirmed that the Government would continue to pay great attention to the projects of Rail Baltica and the synchronisation of the Baltic States’ electricity grids with the continental Western European networks while ensuring that all works are completed successfully in terms of time and quality.
