Prime Minister and Kitron’s President and CEO discussed strengthening cooperation in defence industry
Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas has met with Peter Nilsson, President and CEO of Kitron group of companies to discuss opportunities for expanding company’s operations in Lithuania, cooperation in the defence sector, and bettering country’s investment climate.
‘Kitron is already contributing to Lithuania’s defence capabilities by producing electrical systems for infantry fighting vehicles. We are grateful for this significant input and look forward to strengthening our collaboration to further develop our national defence potential,’ said Prime Minister Paluckas.
Kitron, a leading Scandinavian electronics manufacturing services company, operates in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, India, Malaysia, China and the United States. With over 2,400 highly skilled employees worldwide—700 of them in Lithuania—the company supplies a wide range of products—from printed circuit boards to complete electronic systems in various market sectors including Connectivity, Electrification, Industry, Medical devices and Defence/Aerospace.
The meeting highlighted Kitron’s recent strategic investments in cybersecurity, automation, and high value-added services. These efforts are making a meaningful contribution to job creation and innovation in Lithuania.
As a strategic investor in Lithuania’s high-tech manufacturing sector, Kitron plays an important role in the country’s export structure. Its Kaunas facility—among the most advanced in the group—supports key areas such as defence, medical technology, and electrification, and is a trusted supplier within NATO supply chains.
The Prime Minister has emphasized Lithuania’s willingness to help such important companies to expand, while at the same time helping meet Europe’s need for sufficient defence capabilities so as to avoid relying on imports from other continents.
‘Lithuania is home to companies already in need of advanced electronic components, and more are entering the market. We are committed to fostering new business partnerships and ensuring a favourable investment environment, so that businesses can grow and meet the evolving needs of the defence industry,’ said the Prime Minister.
