Prime Minister congratulates Ukraine on its Independence Day
Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius, on behalf of the Government and the people of Lithuania, congratulated Ukraine on its Independence Day, celebrated on August 24.
“This year marks the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine's independence. As we commemorate this important milestone, it also serves as a powerful reminder that the values of freedom, sovereignty, and self-determination must never be taken for granted and must be constantly safeguarded. The courage, resilience, and resolve demonstrated by the Ukrainian people in defending these fundamental values serve as an inspiration to all freedom-loving nations.
Lithuania's support for Ukraine remains unwavering. We will continue to stand firmly by your side through political, military, economic, and humanitarian assistance, while actively contributing to Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction,' said Mindaugas Sinkevičius in his letter of greetings to Sergii Koretskyi,” Prime Minister of Ukraine.
Ukraine’s defence is critically important for Europe’s security and stability, and Lithuania will continue to support Ukraine’s aspirations for membership in the European Union. Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius notes that advancing Ukraine’s European integration will be one of Lithuania’s priorities during its presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2027.
“Sustaining our candid and productive dialogue will remain of great importance as we further deepen the strategic partnership between Lithuania and Ukraine. I am confident that our close cooperation, shared values, and enduring ties provide a strong foundation for further deepening our bilateral relations.
On this special occasion, I wish you and the people of Ukraine continued strength, unity, resilience, and a just and lasting peace,” said Prime Minister Sinkevičius.
