In her conversation with Ambassador Brian Olley, the Prime Minister has emphasised that Lithuania will continue to work to maintain the closest possible relations with the United Kingdom.

‘Common values, transatlantic unity, security and defence and people to people contacts are the subjects that our countries share. After UK’s withdrawal from the European Union, the bilateral cooperation has become all the more important’, said the Prime Minister.

According to the Prime Minister, what we have to do now, is focus on the implementation of the agreement on the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the EU within the agreed deadlines. We must ensure that the new rules are clear to both citizens and businesses.

The pandemic situation and the vaccination have also been brought up in the conversation. The interlocuters have noted that viral mutations exacerbate the situation, thus it is crucial that we do everything in our ken to prevent the third wave of coronavirus.
