The President of the European Cycling Union (UEC) intends to visit Lithuania and Panevėžys in the near future. In her remote meeting with UEC Director Enrico Della Casos and the management of the Lithuanian Cycling Federation held earlier today, the Prime Minister of Lithuania discussed prospects of hosting the European Track Championships in Lithuania.

The Prime Minister has confirmed Lithuania’s preparedness to host the event.

‘Not only do we have an excellent infrastructure for hosting the championships but also extensive experience in organising competitions of this level. The championships could take place in Panevėžys Cido arena, which has a track that meets the highest requirements’, said the Prime Minister.

Originally scheduled for Belarus, the European track championships had to be cancelled last week in response to the forced landing by the Minsk regime of a passenger jet to arrest the opponents critical of the regime.
