Prime Minister extends greetings to the Republic of North Macedonia on Its Independence Day
On behalf of the Government and the people of Lithuania, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė has sent a message of warmest greetings to the Republic of North Macedonia on the occasion of the Independence Day.
“The opening of the Lithuanian Embassy’s Office in Skopje has strengthened Lithuania’s representation in Your country, marking the beginning of a new level of diplomatic relations. I have every confidence that ties in all other areas will continue to flourish for the mutual benefit of our countries, especially as we approach the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year.
I avail myself of this opportunity to reaffirm the Lithuanian Government’s support for the merits-based EU enlargement policy in the Western Balkans. It is our shared interest to see our democratic and value-aligned partners integrated within the European Union.
In the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine, our unwavering unity in supporting Ukraine until its victory and beyond is essential. At the same time, strengthening the sanctions against Russia and Belarus remains paramount as we pursue sustainable peace and a strong Europe that is impervious to aggressors’ blackmail. I highly value your country’s alignment with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy and its support for Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations," says the Prime Minister's greetings.
