Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė has extended greetings to Leo Varadkar on his reappointment as the Taoiseach of Ireland, wishing him every success in executing the office.

‘My Government is looking forward to further strengthening our bilateral relations, especially in the areas of economy and innovation, culture and education. The Lithuanian diaspora in Ireland is a strong link between our countries.

I believe that Lithuania and Ireland will continuously support Ukraine, which is fighting not only for its own freedom but also for that of other European nations.  I have no doubts that by keeping our solidarity and principled stance based on the values of freedom and democracy, we will overcome the horrors of the war we face today.  Our consistent position in strengthening the sanctions against Russia and Belarus is of utmost importance to show that Europe will not cave in to aggressor’s blackmailing and will stand up for its values.

I am confident that the partnership between Lithuania and Ireland, based on common values and commitment, will continue to progress in the years to come’, reads Prime Minister’s message of greetings.
