Prime Minister holds a telephone call with Estonian counterpart

Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė held a telephone call with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal, who extended greetings to the newly formed Government on its first weeks in office.

The two leaders emphasized the excellent bilateral relations between Lithuania and Estonia, the importance of cooperation in defence, security, transport, and energy, also their shared commitment to supporting Ukraine.

“The strong partnership between Lithuania and Estonia, and our close cooperation across all areas serve both as our foundation and our strength in these challenging times. I am confident that together we will continue to deepen our ties, while working for greater security and prosperity in our region, and standing firmly with Ukraine in the face of Russia’s aggression. We must continue and step up our support for the Ukrainian people so that the day of lasting and just peace may come as soon as possible,” said Inga Ruginienė.

The importance of cooperation not only on a bilateral level but also within the framework of the Baltic Council of Ministers (next meeting scheduled for December) and the Nordic-Baltic Eight format was also highlighted. Lithuania and Estonia remain close allies in NATO, also like-minded partners, and trusted friends within the European Union.
