Prime Minister: Israel is our strategic partner

Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė has had a remote meeting with Ambassador of the State of Israel to Lithuania Yossef Levy, and has discussed measures to combat the pandemic as well as relevant matters of bilateral cooperation.

‘Bilateral relations between Lithuania and Israel are excellent, active, and, most importantly, based on the ties between our nations. The Government will seek to expand bilateral relations further, and Israel will remain a strategic partner,’ the Prime Minister said.

The conversation has focused on the pandemic and the lockdown measures. Delight has been expressed that the situation in Lithuania has been stabilized, while the most important task remains vaccination. Šimonytė has shown interested in the vaccination process in Israel.

The Prime Minister has thanked Ambassador Levy for his active personal participation in last year’s events dedicated to the anniversary of the Vilna Gaon and the history of Lithuanian Jews.

It has also been emphasized that Lithuania will continue to support a closer dialogue between the European Union and Israel.
