Prime Minister meeting with Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania

On Thursday, Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė met with Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania, Olha Nikitchenko, to discuss continued support for Ukraine in its defence against Russia’s aggression and to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The Prime Minister expressed her gratitude for the warm and productive visit to Kyiv earlier this month, emphasizing the relevance of the issues discussed and Lithuania’s determination to turn them into tangible examples of success.

“During my visit to Kyiv and meetings with Ukraine’s leadership, we explored the great potential for cooperation between our countries in developing the defence industry—a key area of focus for Lithuania. Ukraine’s experience and capabilities are unique and vital not only to our region but to all of Europe. By joining our efforts, we can enhance the defence capabilities and security of both our nations,” said Ms. Ruginienė.

According to the Prime Minister, a particularly valuable platform for advancing comprehensive cooperation between the two countries is the joint meeting of the Lithuanian and Ukrainian governments, first held at the end of last year. Lithuania stands ready to continue this format by hosting a second such meeting in Vilnius.

The discussion also covered Ukraine’s most pressing needs, including support for the energy sector, which has been a deliberate target of Russia’s attacks since the beginning of the full-scale war.

Prime Minister Ruginienė reaffirmed Lithuania’s commitment to assisting Ukraine in strengthening the resilience of its energy infrastructure by providing essential energy equipment and maintaining support across other key areas.

For everyone who values freedom and a rules-based international order, the need for unity and solidarity with Ukraine could not be clearer today, said Ms. Ruginienė.
