Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė is sending a message of greetings to Canada, which is celebrating its National Day on 1 July.

'As Lithuania and Canada share a deep-rooted friendship based on common values of democracy, freedom, and the rule of law, l take this opportunity to reaffirm the strong bilateraI relations that exist between our two nations. l am delighted that the Lithuanian diaspora in Canada greatly contributes to strengthening the friendship that exists between our countries. Canada has been a partner to Lithuania, supporting our endeavours in advancing regionaI security, fostering economic cooperation, and promoting culturaI exchanges.

Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine and Russia's offensive against democratic principles and the rule of law only underscore the importance of our unity within NATO and the need to support Ukraine to the maximum extent possible in the defence of its territory and our common values, whatever victory takes.

Let me reaffirm our appreciation for Canada's contribution to NATO presence in the Baltic region. Working together We can further strengthen the eastern part of our Alliance’, says Prime Minister Šimonytė.
