Prime Minister to pay an official visit to Moldova

On 10 December, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė will pay an official visit to the Republic of Moldova.

Meetings are planned with Prime Minister of Moldova Natalia Gavrilița, President Maia Sandu, and President of the Parliament Igor Grosu.

The main purpose of the visit is to express support for the reforms pursued by the Moldovan Government and to discuss the current affairs in the region. It is intended to discuss cooperation under the European Union’s Eastern Partnership programme and to support closer mutual and EU cooperation of the Associated Trio.

Delegations also plan to discuss specific areas where Lithuania’s expertise and support to Moldova would be most appropriate. Reforms in the areas of energy, justice and anti-corruption, internal affairs system, and the environment will be discussed in particular. In the future, this should strengthen cooperation between the Lithuanian and Moldovan line ministries.

The Prime Ministers of Lithuania and Moldova will take part in an opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Moldova.
