Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė expresses sincere greetings to Armenia on its 30th anniversary of Independence.

‘On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, allow me to extend my sincere greetings on the 30th Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia. Being proud that my country has been the first to recognise Armenia’s independence 30 years ago, I commend the progress your country and your people have made, and especially democratic achievements of the last few years. I am confident that challenges are there to be overcome, and that the Armenian nation will find strength, wisdom and unity to build a sovereign, democratic and prosperous future,’ reads the Prime Minister’s letter.

The Head of Government has expressed her delight at seeing that close cooperation in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic has only strengthened partnership between the two countries. Lithuania remains a staunch supporter of strengthening Armenia’s ties with the rest of Europe. The Prime Minister has expressed her conviction that successful implementation of CEPA agreement between the EU and Armenia will provide further impetus in that direction.
