Prime Minister’s greetings to France celebrating its National Day

Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė is sending a message of greetings, on behalf of the Government and the people of Lithuania, to France on the National Day.

‘On this important occasion, I would like to wish the people of France prosperity and well-being. I am pleased to note the very good bilateral relations between our two countries. We are interested in further developing the strategic bilateral dialogue with France as one of Lithuania's key partners. We are also ready to further strengthen our economic cooperation, to preserve and promote European values, to pursue sustainable growth, international peace and stability wherever we can, from Europe to the Sahelian region.

I am confident that the Lithuanian-French cultural season this year will only strengthen the ties between our people and our countries. We are very grateful to France for its contribution to the security of the Baltic region, particularly its participation in the NATO Air Policing Mission in Lithuania. We look forward to working together to further strengthen NATO's Eastern flank and develop military cooperation between Lithuania and France.

In the face of Russia’s shocking and brutal war against Ukraine, it is more important than ever that the EU and NATO countries come together in support of Ukraine’s heroic efforts to defend not only its independence and territorial integrity but also the security order of Europe and the values of the democratic world. France's firm and principled stance and support for Ukraine brings the country closer to victory and peace. I am confident that by acting together, we will continue to strengthen the security of Europe and the democratic world and contribute to the preservation of the international rules-based order,’ the Head of Government said in her message of greetings.
