Prime Minister's greetings to Georgia’s new Head of Government
Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė congratulated the new Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobachidze, and wished the new Government success in serving Georgia and its people.
“Lithuania remains steadfast in supporting Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty. Lithuanian and Georgian nations know the price of freedom, independence, and sovereignty, and it binds our nations together. At the same time, it obliges us to stand in solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, who are defending not only their own territory and sovereignty but also that of all of us in Europe, as well as the rules-based world order that democracies cherish and rely on,” reads the letter by Prime Minister Šimonytė.
As the Head of Government notes, the European Union's decision to grant EU candidate status to Georgia is a response to the aspirations of the people of Georgia, who have clearly chosen the European and Euro-Atlantic future for their country.
“Let me reassure you, Prime Minister, of my Government‘s unwavering support for these aspirations and our readiness to share Lithuania's reform experience to help bring Georgia closer to NATO and the EU,” said Prime Minister Šimonytė.
