Prime Minister’s greetings to Moldova celebrating its Independence Day

Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė is sending a message of greetings, on behalf of the Government and the people of Lithuania, to Moldova celebrating its Independence Day.

‘Thank you for your best wishes on the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Lithuania and the Republic of Moldova we mark this year. Indeed, our bilateral relations are excellent, and I am certain that they can only be further strengthened by our joint efforts’, reads letter to Moldova’s Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița.

I would also like to once again thank you for the warm welcome given to me and my delegation during the visit to your country last year. I have the best memories from that visit and I am looking forward to reciprocating by welcoming you, Ms. Prime Minister, to Lithuania at your earliest convenience. I am certain that together we can do even more to strengthen the cooperation between our countries and the ties between our people.

Moldova’s achievement of the EU candidate status gives new impetus to your reforms agenda and also our bilateral cooperation. I can assure you that Moldova can count on Lithuania’s wholehearted support on your path of European integration as well as in seeking the start of negotiations on the EU membership as soon as possible.

As Ukraine heroically continues to defend its own freedom and the global security order, Moldova can also count on our further attention and support in dealing with the external pressures and the spillover effects of this outrageous Russia’s war against your neighbour.  Our unity and joint efforts are crucial in withstanding and stopping this unjustified aggression and terror as well as in not letting the global community get used to the flames of war on the European soil as a new reality’, reads Prime Minister’s message of greetings.
