Prime Minister’s greetings to Romania celebrating its National Day

Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė is sending a message of greetings, on behalf of the Government and the people of Lithuania, to Romania celebrating its Great Union Day.

‘Throughout history, the people of your country showed unwavering courage in fighting for freedom. Today Romania’s great efforts in helping Ukraine and in supporting Eastern European countries, especially the Republic of Moldova, strengthen the ideals of liberty across the entire European continent.

I am proud that the close cooperation between Lithuania and Romania also contributes to the unity of the EU and NATO, as both organizations face unprecedented challenges caused by Russia’s war against Ukraine.

On this occasion, let me express the highest appreciation for the friendship between our countries and our people, as well as for the partnership within the European Union and NATO. The contribution of Romania to the to NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence in the region is very important in strengthening the security of our region and of the entire Europe,’ reads Prime Minister’s message of greetings.
