Deputy Chancellor of the Government meets Korea’s Special Envoy Noh Jung Kwak
Earlier on Friday, First Deputy Chancellor of the Government, Rolandas Kriščiūnas, met with the Special Envoy of the Republic of Korea and CEO of SK hynix, Noh Jung Kwak, and the delegation of the SK Group, one of the world leaders in the production of semiconductors, to discuss the bilateral economic cooperation, and Korea’s bid to host the EXPO 2030 exhibition.
‘The Republic of Korea is Lithuania’s important partner, as evidenced by its prominent place in our Indo-Pacific Strategy, adopted this year, and the opening of the Lithuanian Embassy in Seoul two years ago. We welcome the Republic of Korea’s decision to open an embassy in Vilnius, and we very much look forward to it. We have no doubt that there is great potential for further cooperation,’ said R. Kriščiūnas.
We see Lithuania’s ambition to diversify its export markets as a sound rationale, and the Republic of Korea is a notable contributor to this success.
The SK Group’s areas of operation align with Lithuania’s emphasis on advancing high technologies. We hope that this visit will yield positive outcomes for the growth of our relations, added First Deputy Chancellor of the Government, Kriščiūnas. In its turn, the Government is prepared to lend a receptive ear and to work towards creating the most favourable conditions possible as regards investment, scientific collaboration, and innovation.
Busan’s bid to host EXPO 2030 was also a topic of discussion. As Mr. Kriščiūnas pointed out, the Republic of Korea’s active involvement in the nomination process and the exemplary business and public partnership between the two countries have already made a meaningful contribution to the advancement of relations and dialogue between Lithuania and the Republic of Korea.
