First visit of a Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania to Armenia: the Prime Minister visits Yerevan

On October 18-20, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė will visit Armenia. This is the first-ever visit of a Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania to Armenia. The Prime Minister will meet with President Vahagn Khachaturyan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and participate in other meetings.

The Prime Minister's working visit is aimed at expressing Lithuania's support for a democratic Armenia facing security and humanitarian challenges and seeking closer cooperation with Western countries, as well as developing a dialogue towards normalisation and sustainable and lasting peace in the South Caucasus. With the Armenian leaders, the Prime Minister will discuss the security situation in the region and globally, the humanitarian situation following the relocation of more than 100,000 ethnic Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Armenia, and relations between Armenia and the European Union (EU). The visit will also highlight Lithuania's readiness to continue and expand its assistance to Armenia in the implementation of democratic reforms and the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

Meetings with President Vahagn Khachaturyan and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan are scheduled for October 19. On Friday, October 20, the Prime Minister will visit the headquarters of the EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA), which was established earlier this year in Yeghegnadzor, and meet the Head of Mission.

A more detailed programme for the visit will be included in the Prime Minister's agenda.
